The electricity was in the air as we entered the stadium, you could feel that something amazing was going to happen, the crowd was ablaze with colors of YELLOW and BLACK. Many of the fans turned up screaming for Kohima Komets FC in our Home colors. The match was graced by Mr. Merentoshi Jamir, Minister Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland. Kivi would miss the final due to double yellow cards in previous matches.

We won the toss for the jersey and wore our home's Yellow and Black. The match started and it belonged to us right from the word GO. From the crowd to the ground, we controlled the entire proceedings. With our army of supporters chanting "Kohima Komets", "Kohima Komets", "Kohima Komets" edging the players on, they did not leave anything and went all out. We won the match 8 goals to nil with a dominating performance for our first ever title. Champions of the Classic Cup 2013.

The match started tentatively and we prodded and probed for our first goal but they held on, until Davikho would beautifully control a cross at the edge of the D box and score the first goal... and then the flood gates opened. Our captain, Ating would double the score from 30 yards out for a lovely ranged goal. With David injured in his knee as well as his hands as Elite FC started being physical, he was out of the match for almost 5 minutes and we were down to ten men, Elite FC pressed and attacked but could not find a clear shot on goal. Matthew would get a yellow card for tackling from behind. Matthew would then join in the scoring chart as he scored a pile driver from close range at a tight angle after an assist of Samuel. The first half ended 3-0 in our favour.

The second half started and we dominated the proceedings as we did the first half, in what was perhaps the goal of the tournament, a beautiful curling ball beating all defenders would be flicked in by Shalo for his first goal and become the tournaments leading goal scorer. MPA and Bamdi then scored a goal apiece with Shalo making the seventh and Manikanta pushing in the 8th goal. We created many chances but couldn't convert the remaining. Manikanta, Bamdi and James would come in as substitute for Thopi, Matthew and Nganga.

In what was perhaps the most one-sided final of the Classic Cup, we had an amazing 7 different goal scorers and dominated from start to finish, our passing was sublime and our through balls were accurate inspite of the muddy pitch. Both our goal keepers had a relatively easy outing as they did not even have to make a direct save.

The final and individual prizes are as follows:
Peisuidibe wins the best goal keeper award, with a certification and Rs 3000 cash.
Andrew of Elite FC won best defender with certification and Rs 3000 cash much to the chagrin of everyone present. A team that conceded 8 goals in the finals winning the best defender award seemed unfair as we had only conceded one goal in the entire tournament.
Our Captain, Ating would be adjudged the best midfielder and rightly so, he gets a certification and Rs. 3000 cash prize.
Victor Thomson from New Market XI is the best player of the tournament. He wins a certificate and Rs 5000 in cash.
Runner's up Elite FC wins running trophy and Rs 50,000 in cash.
and the CHAMPIONS, KOHIMA KOMETS SPORTING CLUB wins running trophy and Rs. 1 lakh in cash.

We again thank our dearest fan for coming out and showing up in numbers despite the rainy weather ans supporting us through thick and thin, through all our tough times and through the years. This trophy is made even more special because we won it for you, and we won it when you were there to support us and cheer us on. Keep blazing higher. Cheers!!
